Volunteering for the Alzheimer Society can be very rewarding.

Volunteer Opportunities

SPECIAL EVENTS REPRESENTATIVE
On-site conference technical support


Use your technical skills to support conference requirements when it comes to supporting all technology needs. This would include working with the organizational committee to coordinate and prepare for the event; liaise with hotel and audio-visual suppliers. Volunteers are required to be present on event day to help with set up.

Time requirement:

  • pre- and post-conference, 10 hours
  • on-site conference, seven to eight hours per day

SPECIAL EVENTS REPRESENTATIVE
Information officer

For those who have some knowledge of the disease and the work of the Alzheimer Society of Ontario, here is an opportunity to become involved by sharing your knowledge at various sponsored events.

This would include being responsible for the transport of materials to the display location and return on completion of the event. Volunteers would be trained to answer questions and distribute educational and awareness material.

Time requirement:

  • as needed during the year, on average two to eight hours per event

PUBLIC RELATIONS REPRESENTATIVE(S)
Fundraising events and outreach


Are you skilled in public speaking? Do you have a background in healthcare?

Then, here's a great opportunity for you. Volunteers will deliver presentations in support of research and services for the Alzheimer Society of Ontario. Individuals with a personal connection to dementia would find this an opportunity to share their experiences with the community.

Time requirement:

  • ongoing, as needed for events

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT

There are a number of opportunities in such areas as data entry, assisting with mailings and other general office support duties.

Time requirements:

  • ongoing, as needed, flexible hours

  • Q: I am a student and I need to complete a number of hours of volunteering. Can I volunteer with you?
    A:
    Yes. We can help refer you to a rewarding volunteer opportunity that will satisfy community service requirements. Contact cconway@alzheimeront.org to discuss what possibilities exist now.

  • Q: How much time do I have to commit?
    A:
    Different volunteer roles require different levels of commitment. Some roles are more flexible than others. We will be as accommodating as possible in enabling you to volunteer at the times that suit you best.

  • Q: Is there a screening process for volunteers?
    A:
    Yes. All volunteers will participate in an application and screening process suitable to the position of interest.

  • Q: What form of support and training will I receive as a volunteer?
    A:
    We will ensure that volunteers have the required knowledge and skills to effectively and safely fulfill their volunteer role. Better still, you will get ongoing support to ensure that your experience is a rewarding one.

An Opportunity for You ...
